Brighton Jive Promotions is run by Colin Tenn and Janneke Saebo,
who have been dancing 1940s and 50s style jive together since 1996. They love
dancing to the authentic Big Band Swing, Rhythm & Blues and Rock’n’Roll of the
era, and are also both keen collectors of the original clothing, which they
wear at their lessons, dances and events.
They run Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced jive dancing courses, a twice-monthly 1940s and 50s dance called Kalamazoo , and the annual Rhythm & Blues Revue in Worthing. They also regularly perform in dance displays and shows with their group The Brighton Jive Dancers and during the last few years, have found their dancing feet in demand for
a variety of different assignments, including;
Taking part in films,
such as BBC1's The Last of the Blonde Bombshells with Dame
Judi Dench, Last Orders starring Michael Caine, shown at
cinemas during 2002, Lucky Jim, shown on ITV in 2003, and
the recently-released PiccadillyJim.
TV programmes including Channel 4’s recent 1940s House
Performing on stage at theatre concerts
with the Herb Miller Orchestra and the Memphis Belle
Orchestra
Being interviewed on
the Joanne Good Saturday morning show on Southern Counties Radio (where they danced ‘live on air’!)
And performing at charity events such as the Mayor and Mayoress of Worthing’s annual
charity ball (where they were thrilled to meet Forces’ Sweetheart Dame
Vera Lynn)
