Brighton Jive Promotions is run by Colin Tenn,
who has been dancing 1940s and 50s style jive since 1994. With a passion for
dancing to the authentic Big Band Swing, Rhythm & Blues and Rock’n’Roll of the
era, and also a keen collector of the original clothing, which is
worn at the lessons, dances and events.
I run Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced jive dancing courses, a monthly 1940s and 50s dance called Kalamazoo , and the weekly record hop called Boogie@Beechams in Worthing. I also regularly perform in dance displays and shows with their group The Brighton Jive Dancers and during the last few years, have found my dancing feet in demand for
a variety of different assignments, including;
Taking part in films,
such as BBC1's The Last of the Blonde Bombshells with Dame
Judi Dench, Last Orders starring Michael Caine, shown at
cinemas during 2002, Lucky Jim, shown on ITV in 2003, and
the recently-released PiccadillyJim.
TV programmes including Channel 4’s recent 1940s House
Performing on stage at theatre concerts
with the Herb Miller Orchestra and the Memphis Belle
Orchestra
Being interviewed on
the Joanne Good Saturday morning show on Southern Counties Radio (where they danced ‘live on air’!)
And performing at charity events such as the Mayor and Mayoress of Worthing’s annual
charity ball (where they were thrilled to meet Forces’ Sweetheart Dame
Vera Lynn)
